I am a certified Reiki practitioner in NY state and have yet to find out if you need a license. I was recently told that you need a license to touch someone in NY state. I know you are not required to have a License to practice Reiki………..Since you do touch people when you do Reiki (If they Prefer), then where does that leave me?

The fabulous thing about Reiki is that you do not need to touch the person to give an efficient treatment. In some cases, the person will need more than one treatment though but still…no need to touch. Positive Energy flows directly from your hands to the person who needs it.
Normally you do not need a license but I don’t know about NY state.
Some Reiki practioners use acupressure, reflexology, crystals, etc….. while giving a Reiki treatment so maybe, you want to check with their websites – if you are using one of those techniques in conjunction with Reiki – to see if you don’t need a license for these.
